
Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Bursary
As a firm we understand the economic and financial barriers faced by young aspiring lawyers. We as a firm believe in breaking barriers, which is why we provide educational bursaries.
We encourage hard work, commitment, and excellence. In the circumstances, we award a number of bursaries to the successful law students.
Criteria
Bursaries are awarded on an annual basis (in respect of bursaries for the following/ next academic year). Each application for a bursary is considered on its own merit taking into account the financial merit of the application as well as the following factors:
1) be a citizen or permanent resident of South Africa;
2) be enrolled as a full-time student at a South African university for the LLB degree (at undergraduate or postgraduate level)
3) academic excellence
4) proven excellence in any other field excluding academics

What are the criteria to be considered for a bursary?
To be considered for a bursary, an applicant must meet the following criteria:
- be a citizen or permanent resident of South Africa;
- be enrolled as a full-time student at a South African university for the LLB degree (at undergraduate or postgraduate level).
What conditions apply to the bursary?
The successful candidate will be required to:
- provide updated academic results and progress reports if and when required;
- attend one of the Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr vacation programmes for law students if invited to do so;
- agree to a right of first refusal with regard to Practical Vocational Training.
When do your bursary applications open and close?
Our bursary applications open in the second semester of the year between August- September annually.
